Missionary service is one way we can consecrate our time, talents, and abilities in Christlike service. Senior members have been invited to consider serving two or more missions—one away from home and one close to home.
There are hundreds of opportunities to serve, with many urgent needs both around the world and right here in our own communities. Missions vary widely in length, location, responsibilities, and time commitment, making it possible for many members to find a meaningful way to serve.
Here are a few opportunities and needs we’re currently aware of:

Hello high councilors from the Camp Lomondi Council, I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday. Will you please reach out to your Stake Presidents about the message below? We are hoping to get this sent out electronically as soon as possible as these things tend to take some time.
We have openings for two Camp Lomondi Host Senior Missionary couples which are available to be filled immediately. Service would begin January 2027. We would like to give anyone from the Stakes assigned to our camp the first chance at filling those before the slots are opened to the general public. Could we get this out in the next couple weeks? Perhaps also post a notice on your bulletin boards and in your Newsletters or weekly programs? We are attaching a document explaining what would be involved in this calling that you could print out and give to anyone who is interested. It has the Taylor’s contact information on it. They would need to contact them directly so that they could open up a slot for them to apply for.

Camp Lomondi
Church Service Missionaries
Brief Job Description
- Time Commitment
- Typical length of calling for Service Missionaries is 2 years. All of the current missionaries have extended their service, some multiple times. It is a favorite, enjoyable calling for many.
- Camp typically operates May through September. Each missionary couple will sign up for 2-3 weeks during this time frame. Couples will stay at the Camp during their selected weeks, arriving on Monday and staying through Saturday. (There is a missionary cabin with a bedroom (King Size bed) bathroom/shower, kitchen (fridge, stove, oven, microwave) and living area. Missionaries will supply their own food; most other items needed are furnished in the cabin. Couples are also welcome to bring and use their own RV if desired. There is a place to park it with hookups near the cabin)
- Some work prior to May and during September to prepare camp and close camp
- Meetings/Socials with all missionaries are held several times during the year
- The Church requires on line annual training, which takes approximately 2-3 hours for each individual missionary
- Skills
- Handyman, mechanic, electrical skills, sprinklers, etc. are helpful, although not required
- Good people skills and a willingness to help guests have an enjoyable experience
- The ability and willingness to provide physical labor in service to the Lord
- Examples of tasks completed by service missionaries include Lawn Mowing, using a combination of walk behind and riding mowers. Most areas of lawn have automatic sprinkling systems; some areas may require setting and moving sprinklers. Removing and trimming brush. Trail maintenance. Orientation for groups using the camp when they arrive. Problem solving. Cleaning and organizing. Stocking of supplies (paper towels, soap, etc.). Launder towels, sheets and cleaning items. Simple plumbing repairs, unclogging sinks and toilets. Small repairs. Equipment maintenance. Also identifying and working on the many opportunities to improve and maintain the camp.
- Typical week at Camp Lomondi
- Mondays there are no guests scheduled. This day is reserved for mowing, watering and preparing the camp for guests
- Tuesday through Friday greet guests, provide camp orientation and safety information. Provide support as needed to guests and checkout according to schedule depart date
- Saturday final checkout of remaining guests, launder towels, sheets and cleaning items, restock supplies in preparation for the following week. Missionaries depart camp on Saturday afternoon
- Missionaries serve as couples and should plan accordingly so that both missionaries are present at camp at all times during their selected weeks of service.

Dear Stake President
We express our sincere appreciation for the inspired leadership you provide in your stake and for your devoted efforts in the gathering of Israel. We see daily evidence of your faithful service and are deeply grateful for the steady influence you have in strengthening members and advancing the Lord’s work.
We are writing to request your assistance in identifying senior missionary couples who may be prepared to fill several critical missionary assignments within the Utah Layton Mission:
- One full-time missionary couple to serve in Mission Finance and Referrals. This is our most urgent need. This couple would oversee mission financial processes and coordinate referrals to help ensure investigators are promptly connected with missionaries. Ideally, this couple will be able to begin serving in November 2026.
- Five Housing Coordinator couples to help oversee missionary housing by coordinating maintenance and repairs, preparing apartments for incoming missionaries, ensuring housing standards are maintained, and supporting the temporal needs of our missionaries. This calling requires approximately twelve hours of service for each transfer (six weeks).
- Two Member and Leader Support (MLS) missionary couples to serve in our Spanish-speaking units. Only one member of the couple needs to speak Spanish.
- One missionary couple to serve as Executive Secretary to the Area Service Mission Coordinators. This role supports the Area Service Mission Coordinators (ASMCs), who are called by the Area Presidency to oversee and assist the Service Missionary Advisers. The advisers, in turn, support the young service missionaries serving from their assigned stakes within the Utah Layton Mission. This calling requires approximately 20–50 hours of service each week, depending on the point within the transfer cycle.
As you prayerfully consider individuals in your stake who may be prepared for these important callings, we invite you to review the attached documents, “Member and Leader Support (MLS) Missionaries,” “Housing Mentor Job Description,” and “Executive Secretary to the ASMCs Assignment Description,” which provide additional information about the purpose and responsibilities of each senior missionary assignment.
